Transcript: Panasonic Toughbook Laptop Review

Review Date: 5/10/07

Hi! I'm Peter Cook for About.com Today I'm going to review the CF-30 Panasonic Toughbook laptop. But before we get to the review has this ever happened to you?

If you are like most people who own a laptop computer, at some time, you may have dropped it or spilled something on it. Usually this results in a broken laptop or costly repairs.

Why Choose a Toughbook?

The Panasonic Toughbook laptops are the answer to these problems. Like the name says, these are tough laptops. They have magnesium alloy cases, shock mounted hard drives, and LCD screens.

The CF-30 model that I reviewed has a hardened case. You don't even need to carry it in a laptop bag. It has a built in handle and the entire case is waterproof. You can drop the case or even jump on it and it will handle the stress.

Panasonic Toughbook Features

Rubber sealed access doors and double locked access ports make this one very secure case.

The CF-30 has built in wireless with an unusual on / off switch on the outside of the case.

This model also has a built in touch screen which you can use with the plastic stylus pen which is stored in the handle.

Inside the laptop - it is a normal Intel laptop with an Intel Centrino Duo Processor/ DVD/CD. It comes with Windows XP and is Windows Vista compatible.

Panasonic Toughbook Flaws

The downside to this tough laptop is the weight, which comes in around 7 pounds, and the cost, which is about double what you would spend for a high end business laptop.

But all in all, if you need a tough computer that can handle work situations like construction sites or work in the field, this is a good laptop to consider.

Thanks for watching.
